This is a kind of burial ground?
Is the ditrition of the stone done by the seawind/salt or is this under the influence of the pollution?

The image was shot in Jaffa's old Muslim cemetary. which is located on a rock over the sea.
The rock is made of very soft sandstone and as a result of the influence of the sea, the wind, it's slowly crumbling into the sea, taking the graves with it.
Some graves are open (there is another picture showing an open grave with a skull exposed to the sun & weather in this site).
The graves themselves are being destroyed as well. Some by the wind, which is very salty and the rain, others by neglect and vandalism.
In cooperation with Jimmy Turk i'm currently making pictures of most of the graves, many of who are overgrown.
Many graves belong to families of Palestinians who live in the refugee camps or abroad and who cannot visit to clean the graves and maintain them.
